Notched

This photo series focuses on trees whose crowns and branches have been drastically pruned. These photographs do not only document the vegetative remnants of human intervention, but also bear witness of a dialogue between control and resistance. The trees‘ bizarre, almost surreal forms appear as living sculptures, both obeying and relentlessly producing new forms. A notched tree stands as a testament to nature’s enduring will. Its trunk, once marked by a deliberate cut, tells a story of an interruption—a moment when human intent met the unyielding force of life. But instead of surrendering, the tree absorbs the cut.
